Basically what the interviewee Sean Carroll is saying is, “since I think this is what happened”, whatever anyone has to say is null and void. Carroll doesn’t need to hear the other side of the story. to Carroll only what he thinks is what is. he says there is no explanation to many things that oppose her views (i.e. God and so forth). Well Ms. Carroll… you have not recently gone to a bookshop. If so you would have known that there are explanations from the “other side” as well. this too by not mere “theologians”. But Scientists in biology, astronomy, physics and other domains o science to use her own wording. People like John Lennox, Alister McGrath, Hugh Ross, William Lane Craig, Kent E. Hovind, Michael J. Behe, William Dembski, Francis Collins, Paul Johnson, Lee Strobel are a few he might want to look into.
There are more cosmic mysteries than what Carroll is illuding to. But of course Carroll does not need to tell the truth to bring the message across. Because since there is no God (to her), there is no absolute authority that governs truth. therefore no one can accuse her of lying, nor can anyone subject her to tell the truth. So read her words with this in mind.
he is right when he says, the existence of humanity, the life-bearing perfection of Earth, the workings of the universe can be explained by science. Of course it can. That is what the Bible shows us. If the Bible is true, scientific and archeological discoveries should confirm the Bible. And it does! Ms. Carroll needs to read the Bible, which presumable he has not.
Also Ms. Carroll seems to not be watching the TV news of late. he argues that God's sphere of influence has shrunk drastically in modern times. If he knew what the Bible says, he would know that though the world is surprised by the natural disasters, economic fluctuation, knowledge increase, wars and rumors of wars, political movements etc anyone who knows the signs of the end, that the Bible mentions will not be surprised. Contrary to God's sphere of influence shrinking, it is increasing and evident today… but once again, people who read the Bible would know. Instead of supernatural influence shrinking to nil, it will increase to a climax.
One of the worse things anyone can do is to say “there is so much evidence” and then not give them. Worse yet is those who read that statement with e prejudiced mind and conclude that the statement is actually true. This applies to God as well. You can’t just say there is a God, and expect your listener to believe it completely. You need substantial evidence. and that’s why the Bible exist today. And I will not say that the Bible is sole evidence that God exist. The Bible gives plenty of places to look for, for evidence. Yet again the one who wants evidence should READ THE BIBLE and see what it presents as evidence.
I would like to bring your attention to the fact that Sean Carroll is a “theoretical” cosmologist. If our modern dictionaries area accurate “Theoretical” means “Based on or calculated through theory rather than experience or practice”
Beginning of time (Section)
Once again we see the inference to words such as; model, notion, Carroll’s opinion, theory and so forth. He mentions that “a foremost goal of modern physics is to formulate a working theory that describes the entire universe, from subatomic to astronomical scales, within a single framework”. Great! Just make it happen. The world needs such attempts and we encourage that. But with one sincere condition, that they reveal ALL FACTS (not theories) what they discover.
The article also claims that if time had no beginning, it would shut the book on Genesis (first book of the Bible). This is true. Since the Bible starts with the all important claim of "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" (Genesis 1:1)
Mr. Carroll also provides some theories that totally negate God. Yes, people out of prejudice deduct God and create personal theories. That doesn’t make God void. If God truly does exist, then no matter what anyone says according to their imagination, it doesn’t extinguish God’s existence. It is like an orphan saying I don’t have parents.
Carroll talks about the laws of physics, without mentioning why these laws are needed or how they came into existence.
Parallel universes (Section)
In this section Mr. Carroll underplays the fine-tuning of the physical constants of earth and the universe that makes human life possible. The argument he brings up is that we are not the only privileged universe. What is the proof? Oh it’s the quantum gravity theory. Theories (not facts) are made by men according to their own fancies. I can theories that Mr. Carroll is not really human. And how do I say this? Oh it is the theory called “What I think”. He masterfully explains the theory in brief as if it had been discovered and proven.
Mr. Carroll points to theologian conclusion that God is a far simpler answer to the universe's life-giving perfection than accepting ‘the multiverse theory’. And then he says it is the consequence of ‘OUR best, most elegant THEORIES’ Of course he is right when he says “IF or WHEN these THEORIES PROVE correct, "a multiverse happens, whether you like it or not," there goes God's hand in things”. But these theories as applied to all theories need to be proven correct. But guess what? On the other side of the coin, the Bible declares that God will not be silent forever.
Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; andall the peoples of the earth will mourn because of him. (Revelation 1:7) For it is written, As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. (Romans 14:11)
The reason why (Section)
To the question, why there is something as opposed to nothing? Since Carroll cannot come up with an answer that denies God, he says "there can be no answer to such a question". If by any chance he could have cooked up some theory that nullifies God, I assume he would have not said there’s no answer. Many philosophers have actually answered what Mr. Sean Carroll couldn’t. The Gautama Buddha is one who had a great answer for it.
The so called “complete scientific theory that accounts for everything in the universe” the author (of the article) claims need no external explanation. Of course it needs an external explanation – it is called EVIDENCE. You can’t base your conclusions on theories about nature or God for that matter. We have to follow where the evidence leads whether we like it or not. Carroll is quoted as saying that “Most scientist” say “the final scientific theory of the world” will have to be accepted with the phrase “and that’s just how it is”. imagine the theologians telling THESE scientists that God was responsible for everything and “and that’s just how it is”. that would indeed be unsatisfying wouldn’t it without reasonable evidence (not theory).
Daniel Kruger, an evolutionary psychologist at the University of Michigan, has stated that "We're not designed at the level of theoretical physics". Of course! Because once again, anything that is “theoretical” is man-made. men define the evidence according to their fancy and postulate theories. And people believe it to be fact.
Conclusion
In my own opinion, articles like that which was on YAHOO NEWS (Link given above) are useful to open the subject about God. It is also an opportunity to Christians to test there beliefs whether they are myth or based on reality. A believer outht to know why they believe in the existence of God and not subject themesleves to heresay. Do not be offended by such articles as believers but use such arguments to find answers. Some arguments are very reasonable.
The universe and the world are not the only evidence for God. it is the primary evidence. Meaning it is the first thing every human being can see without being directed. Set aside theories of men, investigate the evidence thus far found, reason with your mind, check the 'for' and 'against' arguments and come to a honest conclution. In integrity, follow where the evidence leads.
Far more clearer evidence for God can be found in the pages of the Bible.
God invites mankind to find out the truth.
"Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD (Isaiah 1:18).
"Present your case," says the LORD. "Set forth your arguments," says Jacob's King (Isaiah 41:21). Then the Lord answered Job “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?... Tell me, if you understand?” (Job 38)
The greatest Evidence for the existence of the True God is the historic Life,Teaching, Death and Ressurrection of Jesus Christ.
Jesus said "If any one is willing to do His will, he shall know about the teaching, whether it is from God or originates with me" (John 7:17).
"If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you,” says the LORD. (Jeremiah 29:13-14)
